monster sized morning glories

I got some seeds from Target in their dollar section at the beginning of the summer. There were a variety of herbs, tomatoes, and several kinds of flowers. They came with these little itty bitty terra cotta pots. Well the kids and I painted the pots and then I let them pick out a couple of different kinds of seeds to plant in the pots. H picked several types of herbs and some forget me nots. The herbs were really good and we enjoyed them for a while, but now they are primarily dried up stalks. The forget me nots have just started to bloom recently and they are really sweet. I had forgotten how delicate the blooms are. C's choice of seed was the morning glory and immediately they took off. Well, they have continued to grow vine all summer and only recently started to bloom. And I have to tell you these blooms are huge! I am used to the morning glories that are maybe 2 inches across at their largest. These are more like 3.5 to 4 inches across. And the color blue is just gorgeous. They have pretty much taken over everything else the kids planted in the little area I gave them, but I can't say any of us care. I am dreading the frosts that I know are coming to finally put an end to them.
