Target Wave Mittens

Well... On Sunday evening my hubby begged for some of my handspun to gift to a friend. Being the generous sort that I am I said I would go look through the stash and see what I wouldn't mind letting go of. I brought up four or five hanks/balls of yarn to let him choose from. There was one in particular that by the time I made it up the stairs I was already waffling on whether or not I wanted to let it go. On the tag it said Alpaca/silk blend and it was a variety of greens, yellows, and blues. Well, being the excellent husband that he is, he must have picked up on my vibes because as he read the tag he said, "Hmmm, are you sure you want to give this away? It looks too nice." Good man and yeah I agreed with him. Bringing out those balls of yarn though reaquainted me with another ball of just plain nothing special wool that I had spindle spun awhile back. It was two-ply with a mottled gray and pale blue. After my husband chose the yarn he wanted to take with him, I placed the other balls on my side table and this yarn was just calling to me. I finally decided to find some sort of scarf to make it into. But in my perusing I wandered into my Fall 2006 Interweave Knits. In there I found the really cute Target Wave mittens that I have been wanting to make. So I made the tactical error of beginning to read the pattern. You know how it goes... I just wanted to see how they knit up. Well Shortly thereafter I had picked a lovely pale pink Elann wool and needles and began the knitting. By the time the kids went to bed that night, I had already finished one mitten, decided it didn't fit quite right and made changes in my mind and began to knit the second(first) mitten. The next day when I saw that it turned out perfect the second time, I ripped out the first mitten and reknit it to match. I now have that lovely little something leftover. What to do now? Should I make a matching hat or a third mitten with reversed colors making the pink the dominant color? Decisions, Decisions....

Ok, SO I am at work, wishing I was home knitting - knowing that several cans of paint await me. And then I read your blog - your husband asked for some homespun? Your hubby knows alpaka from a wrench or hammer?? OMG - Im turning a lovely shade of green here. I bet you never hear "why knit socks - you can go buy a pair at (gasp) Wal-Mart" ARRGGGG. You are one lucky lady. I need to re-read your post - maybe I am delirious from toner fumes or something....**sigh**

Hey cool, I'm the one your husband was asking about the yarn for. One was still in hank form so I've wound it into a ball and will start experimenting this weekend. They both have blues and greens which are my absolute favorite colors. Thanks!

I am so glad that you like it. I know it wasn't much yardage, but hopefully you can find something fun to do with it!
