Art show was a bust

Well that was part of it, but also I was a bit of a chicken. Since I was a last minute entry I didn't have a spot to myself and I just didn't have enough purses ready to make me feel like I had a bonafide reason to be there. I think by the next show that comes around, I will be totally ready and hopefully by then, I will be able to take credit cards too. It was a really good art fair though that I will definitely be waiting for next summer!

And with that I have more pictures of some of my finished felted purses!

A few pictures for you to enjoy

Today I am off to my first art show endeavor. I am just taking a few purses because this was fairly short notice. I really just wanted to see what kind of interest people seem to have in them.

This one was one of my first purses I made it is made with two strands of Lopi in two different colors. In the middle where it looks tweedy, I used one strand of each. The bead I went ahead and sewed on the flap after knitting, but before felting.

This one is a fairly small one that I made out of regular Lopi yarn and mixed it ever so often with Frou Frou yarn. I made the handles out of lopi i-cords and then after it dried I crocheted around the handles with the same Frou Frou I used in the purse.

For this one I used cascade 220 and two colors of Knitpicks yarn. Then for a few rows I used Lion brand ladder yarn together with the regular yarn to add a little sparkle.

I have officially entered the blog universe

Here I am...

I have enjoyed reading so many other bloggy/knitty journals, that I just had to join in the fun. I can't wait to share all of my thoughts and accomplishments whether anyone wants to hear them or not!

Right now I am in the middle of several knitting endeavors. I still consider myself a newbie to the knitting world so my projects will most likely not come as a surprise to anyone... Socks and felted purses!

I have become so enthralled with felting purses that I have decided some of my creations need to find new homes. Therefore I will be setting up at local craft shows and trying to sell my wares. After all I love all of my creations so much, that surely I can find other people to love them too... oh and pay to take them home with them!

As far as socks go, I have now finished two pairs. Both of them were the same pattern... a basic top down sock pattern that I got out of the Knitting Experience book by Sally Melville.

The first I made for myself out of Moda Dea Sassy Stripes sock yarn and was so pleased with how they turned out.

I don't love using double pointed needles, but I got through it well enough. I have heard through other's blogs of the dreaded second sock syndrome and so far I haven't gotten stuck by it. Once I finish the first sock I feel driven to finish the second in short order so that I can wear them out in public and show off my fanciwork.

My husband was so impressed with my first socks that I decided to make a pair for him. Unfortunately, once I finished the first sock they didn't quite fit him, so I got those too!

These I made out of Lion Brand Magic stripes sock yarn with heels and toes out of Regia Stretch yarn. I don't know how I like knitting with the stretch yarn but I think it will be good for heels and toes. Hopefully I will be able to get pictures of both of these up soon so you can all marvel with me over the miracle of self-striping yarn. What a great invention that was. Next I need to figure out how to make my own. LOL
